Learn to Play Hockey – Rookie Program

Sign up for Rookie 1 and receive FREE GEAR!! Each gear bag includes a stick, helmet with cage, jersey, and full equipment except skates (rental skates available for use). The Rookie Program introduces players to shooting, passing, stickhandling and other fundamental skills.

Little Royals Rookie League

It’s time to transfer your skills to game play! The Rookie League format includes both game play and practice drills at each session. Learn team concepts and continue developing your skating and stick skills!

Jr. Royals Recreational League

Rec league consists of in-house / limited travel league play where players get the opportunity to join a team. The schedule consists of both games and team practices.

Royals Travel Hockey

Sign up for tryouts and showcase your skills! Join a travel team and compete all season (approximately September through February) against other clubs in your region in weekly games and practices. Play for a championship in the end of the season playoffs!

Revolution Elite AAA Travel Hockey

Are you ready to compete against the top players in the country? AAA travel hockey provides for a rigorous schedule and fierce competition as you play against the best from our area plus out of state. You can expect to practice 2-3 times per week and play games on most weekends during the season. Train hard and play with the best!

General Manager

Brian Reagan

Brian is the Regional Director of Business Operations for the Central PA and West Philadelphia Regions. Brian developed a love of hockey at a young age and was fortunate to play for Pennsylvania State College, where he studied Early Childhood Education and Hotel & Restaurant Management. He has shared his passion for over 19 years of hockey with hundreds of children and adults by coaching successful Learn-to-Play programs for all ages. Reagan joined Black Bear Sports Group as the General Manager of Revolution Ice Gardens (RIG), located in Warminster, PA, in September 2019. Brian added Bucks County Ice (BCI) under his management when Black Bear acquired it in March 2020. He took on the position of Director of Business Operations for RIG, BCI, York Ice Arena, Klick Lewis Arena and Twin Ponds Arena as of January 2023 and will provide support for the management of all five arenas. ​Brian serves as the President of Royals Ice Hockey, full member of the Atlantic Hockey Federation (AHF). Prior to joining Black Bear, Brian was the General Manager of Center Ice of Oaks and the Head Scheduler of the Valley Forge Colonials, also a member of the AHF.

Assistant Hockey Director

Patrick Porkka

Bio Patrick grew up in Rauma, Finland and started playing hockey at a very young age. He moved to the United States and played for the Valley Forge Minutemen AAA and Malvern Prep High School. He returned to Finland after graduating from Malvern to play Junior Hockey where he spent the next 3 seasons. After Juniors, Patrick spent some time playing in North America in the FPHL and the LNAH semi-professional leagues. He finished his playing career overseas in Sweden playing professionally for Hallefors IK and Grums IK. This is now his second season working for the Wintersport Royals organization serving as assistant hockey director and coach. He coached the Royals 12U A team to a silver division championship in his first year as a coach. This season he is coaching the Royals 13U AA team.

Figure Skating Director / Events Coordinator

Kara Bolinger

Kara has been skating since this age of 3 & has been part of the Colonial Skating Club for the past 20 years. She is a USFS Gold Medalist in Skating Skills, Pre Gold in Dance & has competed in many competitions over the years in freestyle. She has been a Silver & Bronze Medalist at Keystone State Games & a Gold Medalist at Philadelphia Areas Championship. Kara works with skaters from beginner to adult including our hockey Tier 1 teams & players. She was involved with the development of the Colonial Accelerated Program & Hockey Initiative Classes as well as our figure skating camps & clinics. As skate director she has facilitated all of our Learn to Skate Programs & freestyle sessions helping our rink achieve being ranked #7 and #3 in the state over the last 2 years. She is a member of USFS, PSA & earned a degree in psychology. Kara also organizes and oversees birthday parties & events at our facility.

Which equipment is provided in the free gear program?

First-time hockey players receive the following equipment for free on their 1st day of class. Jersey and socks, stick, helmet with cage, shin pads, gloves, elbow pads, shoulder pads, hockey pants, hockey bag Skates are not included in the free gear program but rental skates are available until you are ready to get fitted for your own pair. When you enroll in our LTPH Free Gear / Flyers Rookie Hockey Initiation Program, your gear will be provided for you.

How often should I practice?

It is recommended that skaters practice at least one other time per week. Please check our monthly calendar for stick & puck and public skating hours.
